TYA/USA - Ann Shaw Fellowship Recipient
In 1996, TYA/USA (then called ASSITEJ/USA) created a fund to support career development opportunities for theatre artists and administrators committed to theatre for young audiences. This program was renamed in 2003 as the Ann Shaw Fellowship, in recognition of Ann Shaw’s visionary leadership and tireless efforts to support individual career development of TYA professionals.
Since its inception, the Ann Shaw Fellowship has provided funds to assist nearly 40 individuals with travel to theatres and festivals throughout the United States and abroad, for viewing outstanding work and exploring challenging questions related to the field of theatre for young audiences.

TYA/USA Delegate - International Directors' Symposium
The International Directors' Symposium 2013 will take place in Frankfurt in co-operation with Theater Gruene Sosse, which is an independent theatre well known for its work for and with young audiences and its involvement in innovative projects. The International Directors’ Seminar aims to discuss and dramatize questions and connotations of “Heimat” (Home) with the hope that a multitude of ideas and perspectives, as well as, concrete directing approaches can be developed by a diverse group of participants in the directors’ seminar when working with this topic. Since a major objective of the Directors' Seminar is to encourage cultural exchange between German artists and artists from abroad, twenty directors from countries all over the world have been invited to participate, as well as up to five German directors.
Rye Fellowship - International Performing Arts for Youth
The International Performing Arts for Youth's Jim Rye Fellowship offers an outstanding opportunity for graduate students to be involved with the inner workings of a major performing arts for young audiences conference. In addition, mentors with experience in the student's field of interest help the scholar navigate the conference and facilitate the student's introduction to other professionals in the field, allowing them important networking opportunities.
The late Jim Rye was the Artistic Director of the Birmingham Children's Theatre. Jim served on the Showcase Committee for many years, his company performed and exhibited, and he served as a mentor for many up and coming professionals in the field. We honor him by supporting the up and comers in today's ever expanding field of performing arts for young people.
